Real power solutions for collision repair

Run a Premium GYS Spot Welder Without Native Three-Phase Power

A properly specified American Rotary phase converter can allow a single-phase shop to operate select GYS squeeze-type resistance spot welders—including the GYSPOT PTI NEO and PTI GENIUS PLUS—without the cost and disruption of bringing utility-supplied three-phase power into the building.

Why this works

Three-Phase Welding Capability for Shops Built Around Single-Phase Service

Not every collision center has native three-phase electrical service. That no longer means the shop must automatically rule out a premium GYS resistance spot welder.

The combination of GYS power-management technology and a properly selected American Rotary AD or ADX series rotary phase converter has provided a practical path for many shops that only have standard single-phase power available.

The installations shown on this page are not staged marketing photos. They are real customer installations, presented alongside the supporting documents an electrician can use while planning the project.

CRTE welcomes direct communication with the electrician or electrical contractor. We can help identify the intended welder, review the proposed application, and make sure the right technical information is in the right hands before equipment is installed.

Plan the Installation Before the Welder Arrives

The cleanest projects begin with the welder, converter, and electrical contractor being discussed together—not as separate decisions.

Identify the Exact GYS Welder

Confirm the model, voltage configuration, and intended shop location. The PTI NEO and PTI GENIUS PLUS should be evaluated as specific loads, not as generic “three-phase welders.”

Share the Documents

Give the brochure, owner’s manual, and cable reference to the electrician so the service, converter, disconnects, conductors, grounding, and protection can be properly planned.

Have CRTE Review the Application

Contact CRTE before final installation. We can discuss the welder and intended use with the shop or electrician and help identify any questions that should be resolved before startup.

Important: Electrical work must be designed and performed by a qualified, licensed electrical professional in accordance with the equipment documentation, local code requirements, and the conditions at the installation site. Final converter sizing and electrical design remain the responsibility of the electrical professional and converter manufacturer.
Common questions

Phase Converter and GYS Welder FAQ

Can every resistance spot welder run from a rotary phase converter?
No. Converter compatibility depends on the welder’s electrical architecture, startup behavior, current demand, and the converter system being used. This page is specifically focused on proven applications involving select GYS systems and properly planned American Rotary installations.
Which GYS welders are discussed on this page?
The page specifically references the GYSPOT PTI NEO and PTI GENIUS PLUS. Any proposed installation should still be reviewed using the exact model, voltage configuration, and site conditions.
Will CRTE speak directly with my electrician?
Yes. CRTE encourages the electrician or electrical contractor to contact our team so we can discuss the intended GYS welder, provide documentation, and help clarify equipment-related questions.
Does CRTE perform the electrical installation?
No. Electrical design and installation must be completed by a qualified electrical professional. CRTE’s role is to support the equipment side of the conversation and provide the available welder-related information.

No Native Three-Phase Power? Let’s Review the Shop.

Tell us which GYS welder you are considering and what electrical service is currently available. We will help organize the right product information so you and your electrician can evaluate the project clearly.
